Bio

Leah K. McKercher, departed this life and entered the Eternal Home on November 27, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska. Leah was 83 years of age having been born on born on June 20, 1926, in Greeley County to Theodore and Bertha Mary (Gillham) Vanosdall. Leah attended school in Scotia, Nebraska until the family relocated to Grand Island, Nebraska. Leah was united in marriage Bruce Lorance on Feb. 5, 1944, in Grand Island, Nebraska. She married Clifford McKercher on June 20, 1963, at Omaha. The couple lived in Omaha, Nebraska until she returned to Grand Island, Nebraska. She was a waitress for Bosselman/Eatons Truck Stop for 12 years. She worked at Monforts from 1980 to 1987 and before her retirement she worked at Tommy's Restaurant all of Grand Island, Nebraska. She attended Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island, Nebraska and was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and VFW. Leah is survived by: stepmother, Helen Vanosdall of Grand Island; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Barbara Lorance of Grand Island, Nebraska; daughter, Carol Kozel of Omaha, Nebraska; brothers, Glenn and Wayne Vanosdall of Grand Island, Nebraska and David Vanosdall of Hastings, Nebraska; and sister, Marie Lassen of Lincoln, Nebraska and a host of friends and relatives. Leah was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by her parents, Theodore and Bertha Mary Vanosdall; husbands, Bruce Lorance and Clifford McKercher; brothers; Eldon, John, Leroy and Edward; and sisters, JoAnn Caroline, Eveline, Jessie M. and Patricia.
