Bio

Albina Theresa Kozlovsky, 94, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at Westview Manor nursing home in McGregor, Texas. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at St. Eugene's Catholic Church with Father Hilario Guajardo officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Rosary will be recited 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, with visitation 5 to 7 p.m. at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor. Albina was born in Taylor, Texas, to the late Czech immigrants, Albert Haluzan and Annie Rabel Haluzan. At a young age, Albina and her family moved to Mesquite and later to Pilot Point, Texas. She married Joseph A. "Joe" Kozlovsky in Dallas at the Sacred Heart Cathedral on Aug. 24, 1936. They made their home in Pilot Point and farmed. In 1961 she and Joe moved to McGregor. She was employed with Risen Brothers in McGregor and Smith Furniture in Waco where she retired in 1979 after 12 years. Albina was a member of St. Eugene's Catholic Church, St Mary's KJZT of Waco and SPJST Lodge Linden #66. Albina treasured her Czech heritage and language. She kept the Czech culture and heritage alive through baking her famous buchta (poppy seed roll) and listening and dancing to polka music. The Czech heritage and especially the language served as an important bond between her and her children. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening and canning the vegetables that she grew. Preceding her in death was her husband of 68 years, Joseph A. Kozlovsky, on Oct. 24, 2004; brothers, August Haluzan, Ike Haluzan and Albert Haluzan Jr.; great-granddaughters, Amber Kozlovsky, Faith Vasicek; and sons-in-law, John S. Fall and Raymond Kapczynski. She is survived by son, William Kozlovsky and wife, Jo, of Itasca; daughters, Barbara Phipps and husband, Charles, of Ennis, Betty Hrna and husband, Gilbert, of Round Rock, Georgia Kapczynski, of McGregor, and Janey Fall, of McGregor; grandsons, Gregory Kozlovsky, Jeffery Kozlovsky, Brian Kozlovsky, J. Glen Phipps, Thomas Phipps; granddaughters, Monica Kozlovsky, Sandra Hma, Lisa Baumgarten, Diane Schuetze, Denise Vasicek and Jan Christian; great-grandsons, Mitchell Kozlovsky, Colin Schuetze and Garrett Christian; great-granddaughters, Brenda Hemandez, Lauren Kozlovsky, Alt Kozlovsky, Ava Kozlovsky, Ashley Phipps, Kimberly Schuetze, Nicole Vasicek, Sarah Vasicek and Lauren Christian and Alexa Baumgarten; great-great grandchildren, Sean and Kali Hampton, Kaleb and Elizabeth Lollar; sister, Hattie Gaida, of Taylor; and many other family members and friends.
