Bio

Clinton was born in 1852 in Providence, Rhode Island where his father ran a mill. He was from an very old New England family. In 1856 they moved to Winona Co, Minnesota where his father became the postmaster of Whitewater Falls (NW corner of county). In 1859 they again left relatives and moved to Missouri. They lived in several different counties before finally settling in Douglas County in 1868, where his father built and ran a mill. Clinton married 1st to Sophronia E. Rice about 1877. They had 5 children. In 1880 they were in Ozark Co, Mo About 1884 they moved to Howell Co, Mo. In 1887 he was living in Pottersville, Howell Co. where Frona died in Dec. of that year. In 1888 Clinton married Ina Root, but she died 2 months after their marriage. In 1889 Clinton married Sidney Moore. They had 4 children. Clinton was in the milling business with his brother, George. He was a member of the Methodist Espicopal Chruch where he was on the board of trustees. He was also a civic leader in West Plains, where he organized and was the first president of the Chamber of Commerce and was a director of a bank in West Plains. He was a Republican and belonged to the AF&AM, IOOF, & AOUW. Children (Frona's): Frederick Eugene Charles Oscar Adah Dell Clinton M. (prob died young) William M.
