Timothy Pedigo in honor of her birthday today, May 1, 2023: On this day May 1, 1921, Ethel Mae Dawson entered the world. Today I celebrate her 102 Birthday!!! She was the next to last child born to a fairly large farming family in Oklahoma. She grew up in the Depression Era when times were hard. People became hard. Life was tough and, to a young girl with a big imagination and a lot of creativity, hope was the greatest of her assets. She was the first to leave the farm in pursuit of a college education. She attended and completed her studies at Murray State University. Following this she spent the next few years teaching in the whistlestop schools in Boggy Depot, Tichmingo, and others before moving to Dallas, TX to start a new life. It was here that she met and married George. Together they made a great life for their children, started a church (though they never wore the title of Pastor), and put her teaching skills to work for the next 50 years of so in the the Sunday School Department. At one point, she had taught almost every single person in the church in one of her classes. Ethel retired from her job, but continued her service to the church by volunteering to do all of the data entry work in the office. Ethel Mae Pedigo was my MOTHER and I am proud to be Ethel's boy. I love you, Mom. Happy Birthday!
