Bio

Mrs. Corine McFarling Biggs, age 89 of McKinney, Texas passed away to be with her maker and her beloved husband on October 24, 2009 in McKinney. She was born on May 29, 1920 to John Shields and Sarah Ann (Honea) McFarling. On October 19, 1940 she married Bernie O. "Buddy" Biggs in McKinney. Mrs. Biggs was a retired grocery clerk, having worked at various grocery stores all located in the historic downtown McKinney. Among them were Safeway, where she was known as the first women to have checked groceries for the Safeway stores, Duggers Food Mart and Mosely Grocery. She worked for the Ritz Theater in McKinney and also owned and operated Corine & Jiquetta's Café. Mrs. Biggs was a member of the Hillcrest Christian Church in McKinney and past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in McKinney. She is survived by her sister, Mattie Lee Lubbers of Sherman, Texas, brother, Bob McFarling of Denton, Texas, nieces and nephews, Judy Clark, Allen McFarling, Bill McFarling, Johnny Bob McFarling, LaDean Choate Mayo, Brunson Choate, Ronnie Lubbers, Pat Reeves, Mike Lubbers, Nancy Nichols, Amy Baugus, Laurie McFarling, Carol Morrison and Carrie Kimble, sister-in-law, Doris Hughes McFarling and many great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Biggs was preceded in death by her husband Buddy in 2005. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Marvin, William, John and Jack McFarling and sisters, Ora Bell Andrews and Mary Dean Choate. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Reverend Rod Corner and Brother Larry Burgen officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6~8pm Tuesday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Officiating as pallbearers will be J.B. Mayo, Justin Lubbers, Ricky Nichols, Bobby Ray Baugus, Ben Baugus and Steve Baugus.
