Bio

Joyce Mitchell Tanner passed away on November 15, 2009. She resided at 5976 South 200 East in Murray, Utah at the time of her death. Daughter of Conrad Bolton Mitchell and Margaret Arvilla Sadler Mitchell; born in Draper, Utah on October 21, 1938. Joyce graduated from Jordan High School in 1956. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities. Joyce has a strong testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and had a great love for her country. She worked at the State Tax Commission for over twenty-three years, where she met the love of her life, H. Floyd Tanner. Married to William Scott Brinkerhoff. They had four children: Kayleen Krahenbuhl (Jim), Mitchell Scott Brinkerhoff (Carin), Tracy Derby (Scott), and Conrad John Brinkerhoff (Rhonda) and later divorced. Married H. Floyd Tanner in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 11, 1977. Floyd brought to the marriage Marshall Tanner (Donna) and Julann Geesey (Howard), Jill Faragher, and Jason Floyd Tanner. Her family, children, and grandchildren were very important to her. She loved watching and collecting movies, traveling the world, but her passion was spending time in Grouse Creek at the ranch with her cows. Survived by siblings: Conrad Kay Mitchell (Janice), Paul Sadler Mitchell (Anna), Connie Mae Jensen (Clyde), twenty-one grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Memorial Estates Mortuary, 3115 East Bengal Boulevard (7800 South) Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery.
