Ernest J. Hlavaty, 41, Dead; To Be Buried Today Ernest J. Hlavaty, 41-year old outstanding farmer of the Abbott Community, died Tuesday morning following removal of a brain tumor in a Dallas hospital. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. W. Pechal in Abbott's Immaculate Heart of Mary Church today, Friday, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Rosary was recited Thursday evening at Aderhold Chapel in West. Mr. Hlavaty, the son of Joseph and Annie Marak Hlavaty, was born in West on May 5, 1913. He attended St. Mary's school and graduated from West High School. He married Bessie Jaska in West November 17, 1936. They were parents of three daughters. For the past 14 years, the family had made their home on a farm two miles south of Vaughan. Mr. Hlavaty, with his entire family, was active in activities of Abbott schools and the Abbott Catholic Church. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and an appraiser for Lodge Marak, RVOS. His life's work was agriculture, and he devoted many hours to Farm Bureau, soil conservation, and other associated works. Mr. Hlavaty had been ill for the past six weeks. he was confined to a Hillsboro hospital for three weeks before being taken to a hospital in Temple Friday. His illness became more serious, necessitating the removal of a tumor from his brain on Sunday in Dallas. He rallied briefly following the operation but passed away at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Prior to the fatal illness, Mr. Hlavaty had been in the best of health. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hlavaty of West; his widow, Mrs. Bessie Hlavaty; three daughters, Misses Dorothy, Margaret and Betty Hlavaty, all of Abbott; and a brother, Andrew Hlavaty of Monahans. Pallbearers were Anton Mazanec, Johnny Mazaned, Albert Hirbelin, Jerome Lednicky, John F. Jaska and Louis R. Janek.
