Bio

Corene Killion Jaska, age 85 of Ross, died March 2, 1996 at Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Waco. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. March 5 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. March 6 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Ed Karasek as Celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mrs. Jaska was born August 11, 1910 in Gholson, the daughter of Perry and Frankie Killion, and was a lifelong resident of McLennan County. She attended Southwest Texas University at San Marcos and Baylor University, receiving her B.S. degree from SWTU in 1936. She began her teaching career in 1928 at Ross where she taught the first grade for 44 years. She married John F. Jaska on June 25, 1947, and he preceded her in death on July 27, 1977. She was a charter member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead. She was also a former member of the Ross Extension Homemakers Club. Survivors include three brothers, Lawrence E. Killion of Paradise Valley, Arizona, Perry O. (Buddy) Killion of Temple, and Harry William Jackson of San Diego, California; one sister, Mrs. Joyce Ann Sansom of Coleman; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Terry W. Killion, Bobby J. Killion, Terry T. Killion, Steve Killion, Tim Jaska, Jim Jaska, Rick Jaska, Raymond Jaska and Jerome J.
