Mrs. Sophie Fillip, 87, of West died Saturday, October 5 at a Waco Nursing Home. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, West, with Msgr. B.J. Zientek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mrs. Fillip was born September 14, 1898 in Praha and had lived in West since 1932. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was married to Charlie Fillip in 1920 at Penelope. He died in 1947. Survivors include a son, Henry Fillip of Waco; five daughters, Helen Ives of Winona, Minnesota, Mrs. Ervin (Christine) Lander of Bellmead, Mrs. Harrold (Margarit) Gordon of West, Mrs. Ervin (Elenora) Raabe of Lacey-Lakeview and Mrs. Adolph (Elizabeth) Kolar of Route 2, West; a brother, Anton Dudik of Aquilla; three sisters, Mrs. Alvina Pavlica of Gonzales and Mrs. Julie Machac and Mrs. Hattie Hubik, both of Hubbard; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
