Jerry W. Cocek, age 67 of West, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 29, 1994 at his residence. Rosary was recited by Rev. Melvin Dornak, 8 p.m. Thursday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Services followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mr. Cocek was born January 29, 1927 at West and had lived in the West-Whitney area all of his life. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army and was a member of V.F.W. Post No. 4819 of West. He was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305 of West and was Past President of the West Columbus Club. Mr. Cocek was a Boy Scout Master and Leader for a number of years and a retired tile setter. He is survived by one brother, Amos Cocek of West. Active pallbearers were Joe Johnny Halamik, Bernard Chudej, Albert Matus, Alois Haidusek, Freddie Gerik and Robert Lednicky. Honorary pallbearers were Members of V.F.W. Post No. 4819 of West.
