Bio

Mrs. Eva Jordan Walla, age 83, of 701 N. Marable Street in West passed away July 13, 1987 at Ridgecrest Retirement Center in Waco. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. July 14 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Joe Cihlar. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. July 15 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Gary Geurtz as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Walla was born November 5, 1903 in Hill County and had lived on Marable Street in West ever since 1933. She and her husband Edward Walla owned and operated Walla Insurance Agency until his death September 11, 1948. She continued as owner of the business until her retirement in 1965. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Altar Rosary Society, SPJST and St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She is survived by a brother, James Robert Allison of Hereford; two nephews, Jordan Beckham of Waco; and Jimmy Allison of Amarillo; and one niece, Ruth Ann Cansler of Austin. Pallbearers were Jake Tucker, Jimmy Bruce, Ed Nemecek, Billy Gene Hromadka, Bob Plsek and Tommy Muska. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 97, No. 29, Edition 1, Thursday, July 16, 1987, page 5.
