Joseph L. (Jody) Vrana, age 64 of West, passed away January 19, 1999 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 21 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Isidore Rozycki. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West conducted by West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. Mr. Vrana was born on November 24, 1934 in West, the son of Joe and Sophie Vrana. He graduated from West High School in 1952. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Jody's Barber Shop in West for 30 years, where he made several friends. He enjoyed fishing with his family and friends. Jody was a member of V.F.W. Post No. 4819; Knights of Columbus No. 2305; American Legion No. 478 and K.J.T. No. 31. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He is survived by one brother, Ed Vrana and his wife Martha of Waco; two sisters, Mary Bittenbinder and her husband Joe of Waco and Marcella Wolf and her husband Robert of West and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Dr. Tim Bittenbinder, Tom Bittenbinder, Keith Vrana, Scott Vrana, Douglas Wolf and Brad Gilbert. Aderhold Funeral Home in West is in charge of arrangements.
