Louis R. Tichavsky, age 81 of West, passed away March 9, 1999 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center at West. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday (today) at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Tichavsky was born on August 8, 1917 in Hill County near the Menlow community, the son of Joe and Agnes Tichavsky. He married Frances Ann Rejcek on July 8, 1940 in West. They moved to Mayfield where he worked as a farmer and carpenter for 37 years until he retired in 1983. They then moved back to West in 1983. Louis loved to work out in the yard and was an "avid gardener." He was a member and served as a former secretary and treasurer for 35 years with the K.J.T. Society No. 109 of Hillsboro. He was a former member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro, where he served as an usher and used his carpenter skills for upkeep at the church. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He is preceded in death by one sister, Rosie Kallus. He is survived by his wife, Frances Tichavsky of West; one daughter, Beatrice Nors and husband, Bill, of West; three sisters, Frances Grones and Leona Bezdek, both of Abbott and Lillie Adair of West; three grandchildren, Richard Nors and wife, Karen, Melissa Gerik and husband, Mike and Melinda Muhl and husband, Jimmy, all of West; three great-grandchildren, Nathan Nors, Nicole Nors and Jacob Muhl, all of West and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Richard Nors, Mike Gerik, Jimmy Muhl, Anthony Rejcek, Paul Grmela and Mike Bezdek. Aderhold Funeral Home in West is in charge of arrangements.
