Daniel Edmond Straten, 52, of Elm Mott died Wednesday, Dec. 16, in a Waco hospital. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead, the Rev. George Tzanakas as celebrant. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mr. Straten was born in Leroy and lived in McLennan County all his life. He was employed at General Tire & Rubber Co. for 32 years and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mr. Straten was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 4819 in West and was a volunteer worker with the Elm Mott Little League. Survivors include his wife, Mary Straten of Elm Mott; a son, Gary Wayne Straten of Hewitt; a sister, Angeline Debbendener of Leroy; three brothers, Alphonse Straten of Northcrest, Urban Straten of Arlington and Emmanuel Straten of Leroy; and a granddaughter. Pallbearers were Arnold Kasberg, Jr., Charles Medearis, Nolan Hodde, L.E. Phillips, George Hutyra, and Robert Straten.
