Mary Josephine Snyder, age 72, of 814 N. Harrison in West, passed away Thursday morning August 23, 1984, at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Mary was born July 23, 1912 in McLennan County and lived in the Elm Mott and West area all her life. She was a teacher in the West Independent School District for 35 years retiring in 1969. She was basketball coach and led a team to a state championship in 1962-63. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Harry Arthur of Lubbock; two nieces, Jan Harrell of Houston and Ann Kingston of Germany. She is also survived by several cousins, aunts, and uncles. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 3:00 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. B.J. Zientek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers were Joe B. Paul, Ed Nemecek, Emil Fridel, Howard Freund, M.F. Kruse and Ed Sykora.
