Richard A. Snapka, age 44, of Rt. 1, West, passed away Monday, October 10, 1983 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. Richard was born August 11, 1939 and had lived in the Abbott-West area all his life. He graduated from Abbott High School in 1957. He was a printer at J.S. Barnett, Inc. in Waco for the past 15 years. He held several offices and was very active in the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305 and a member of the KJT No. 31. He served on the St. Mary's School Board for several years and was an active member of St. Mary's Quarter-Back Club. He had served as a Committee Chairman for the Boy Scouts of America and was a former member of the National Guard. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. He married Jeanette Adamcik in West, April 8, 1961. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; three sons, Dale Snapka of College Station, Ronny Snapka and Gerald Snapka, both of Rt. 1, West; two daughters, Sherri Snapka and Carol Snapka, both of Rt. 1, West; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Snapka of West; two brothers, Ernie Snapka of Arlington and Eugene Snapka of Waco; three sisters, Toni Snapka of West, Kathleen Pustejovsky of Abbott and Carolyn Harlow of Mesquite. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption by Msgr. George Doskocil. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, Rev. B.J. Zientek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Billy Sustala, Ernest Tobola, Jr., Darryl Snapka, Roman Snapka, Jr., Paul Pustejovsky and Michael Snapka. Honorary Pallbearers were Members of Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305.
