Bio
A Resurrection Mass for Margaret Shieldes, age 42 of Lubbock, Texas, was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 20 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lubbock with Rev. Terry Burke as celebrant. Con-Celebrants were Rev. Ron Kirstman, Rev. Jim Gurezynsky, Rev. Joe James, Rev. Joe Bixenman, and Rev. Lou Brousaddi. Deacon of Mass was Rev. Mr. Sid Little, Acolyte was Michael Wood. Other deacons were Rev. Mr. Pat Caruthers, Jerome Brockman, Joe Richard, Lee Behnke, Benny Brito, and Darris Linder. Rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Msgr. George Doskocil. Private graveside services were Tuesday morning in St. Mary's Cemetery. A Memorial Service was at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, Rev. Bob Hajovsky officiating. Mrs. Shieldes died of cancer at 3:25 a.m. Friday, October 17 in St. Mary's Hospital in Lubbock. She was a native of West and graduated from West High School in 1956 and attended Texas Tech University. She married George "Bud" Shieldes June 4, 1960, in West. They moved to Lubbock in 1976 from Killeen. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Lubbock, the Catholic Women's Organization, and a member of KJZT No. 11 and SPJST No. 54, both of West. She was a volunteer with CanSurMont, a branch of the American Cancer Society. She worked with the Library Services of Lubbock Public Schools during the past year. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Robert and Stephen, both of Lubbock; two daughters, Ann and Amanda, both of Lubbock; her mother, Mrs. Christine Hruska of West and a sister, Jeanette Colley of Dallas.
