Edward A. Plsek, age 70, of 911 North Main in West, passed away early Wednesday afternoon, October 3, 1990 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Msgr. George Doskocil. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Plsek was born December 14, 1919 in West, the son of Thomas and Agnes Plsek. He attended West High School and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1949. He married Phillis Sramcik on July 7, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio. They lived in Orange, Texas for 37 years, prior to moving to West in 1982. He is the former owner of Allied Insulation Company in Orange. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4819, and the American Legion Post No. 478, both in West; he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Whitney; and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mr. Plsek was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army in the Pacific and European Theatres. He received a Purple Heart in the Battle of the Bulge. Survivors include his wife, Phillis Plsek of West; three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Joan Plsek of Orange, Paul (Goober) and Belinde Plsek of Atlanta, Georgia, and Zane and Elizabeth Plsek of Lomita, California; two sisters, Helen Wilcox of Port Arthur and Alice Vincent of College Station; one aunt, Hattie Lanicek of College Station; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Harold Robertson, Ted Kostohryz, Randy Young, Tim Plsek, Charles Lanicek, and Bubba Vincent.
