Robert J. Navratil, age 72, of 605 S. Main in West, passed away early Thursday morning at West Community Hospital. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday, November 13, 1987 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 14 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Msgr. Ray Widacki as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Navratil was born October 2, 1915 in Navarro County, son of Frank and Sophie Navratil. He married Billie Bilek in West on August 26, 1940. He was employed with the State National Bank since August 15, 1948 where he served as Vice President, Director, and Cashier. He was formerly employed with Old Corner Drug Store prior to 1948. Mr. Navratil was a member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter No. 2305, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4819, and a former member of the American Legion Post No. 478. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where he served as a church usher. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater. Survivors include his wife, Billie Navratil of West; one daughter, Kay Kaska and son-in-law Ernest Kaska, both of West; one sister, Luddie Navratil of Wichita Falls; one granddaughter, Mrs. Robert (Laura) Morgan of Robinson; and one grandson, Richard M. Kaska of West. Godchildren present for the services were: John Kramr of Austin, Jackie (Kramr) McBride of Houston, Judy (Kramr) Castille of Bellaire and Kelley Martin of Temple. Pallbearers were Larry Lichnovsky, Larry Filer, Terry Redell, Joe Dubacak, Chester Cowan, and Tim Plsek. Honorary pallbearers were Employees and Directors of the State National Bank of West.
