Bobby Ray Middlebrook, age 69, of West, passed away late Sunday evening, December 19, 2004 at West Rest Haven. A rosary was recited at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West by Deacon Buddy Shields. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites followed at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by V.F. W. Post No. 4819 of West. The family received visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Middlebrook was born on January 10, 1935 in West, the son of Ray and Albina (Koval) Middlebrook. He attended schools in West and then went on to serve his country during the Cold War between Korea and Vietnam and also served part of is time in Iceland. On June 6, 1959 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Barbara Ann Skopik in West. She preceded him in death on February 21, 2004. Bobby worked as a window glazer for Ideal Woodworks, known as Cameron Mills, in Waco for 25 years until his retirement. He also worked for the Community Grocery in West for several years. He loved to do wood work and cherished moments spent with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 4819 in West and St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. His parents, one daughter, Caroline Ann Middlebrook, a daughter-in-law, Debby Middlebrook, and two grandchildren, Johnny Ray Fulton and Cynthia Marie Fulton, also precede him in death. Survivors include two sons, Edward Ray "Eddie" Middlebrook and wife Sharon, and Robert Middlebrook, all of West; one daughter, Lisa Marie Middlebrook and Hank Dawson of West; two brothers, Ervin Middlebrook and wife Margie of Chalk Bluff, and James Middlebrook of West; one sister, Rose Swank and husband Jerry of Elm Mott; one sister-in-law, Shirley Skopik of Waco; three grandchildren, Edward Ray Middlebrook II, Kathryn Ann Middlebrook and Sarah Christine Middlebrook; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were Ervin Middlebrook, Jr., Larry Skopik, David Skopik, Richard Skopik, Kenneth Swank, Eddie Middlebrook II, Jerry Swank and Melvin Frost.
