Bio

Joe F. Machovsky, age 89, of West, passed away early Sunday morning, May 26, 2013 at St. Catherine's Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Joe was born October 10, 1923 in West, the son of Joe E. and Bertha (Cepak) Machovsky. He attended St. Mary's School. On May 1, 1944 he was united in marriage to Lillian Wilma Karlik in West, by Rev. Ladislav Klimitchek. Lillian preceded him in death on July 7, 2007. Joe worked as a farmer with his parents and was a carpenter. He retired in 1987 from William Cameron Company (Certainteed Corp.) after 48 years. He was a longtime faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. He was also a member of the Millman Local Union #324. Joe enjoyed gardening and working in his shop at home making furniture, wall pieces and crafts for his home. He loved watching baseball, especially the Rangers, Astros, and White Sox. He also liked to watch the Dallas Cowboys. Joe is also preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Joshua Machovsky and David Morrow. Survivors include a daughter, Lillian Christensen and husband George of Irving; three sons, Raymond Machovsky and wife Nelda of Temple, Bernard Machovsky of Waco, and James Machovsky and wife Valencia of Palacios; grandchildren, Brenda Young and husband Ben, Jason Machovsky and wife Mary, Annette Burns and husband Bobby and Kevin Christensen and wife Mitzi; great-grandchildren, Quinn, Christopher, Sophie, Josie, Katy, Lily and Justin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
