Raymond E. Lenart, age 72 of Abbott, died Monday, October 28, 1996 at Waco Veterans Administrative Hospital. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. October 29 at Aderhold Funeral Home Cchapel in West by the Rev. Ed Karasek. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. October 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Lenart was born May 19, 1924 in West, the son of Ernest (Eddie) and Louise Lenart. He married Evelina Grones on June 10, 1947 in West. He served in the European Theatre during World War II with the United States Army. He was a farmer most of his life. He also worked for the Texas State Department of Highways and Public Transportation for 16 years until he retired in 1986. He was a member of West VFW Post 4819, SPJST #6 Cottonwood and RVOS #45. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He is survived by his wife, Evelina Lenart of Abbott; two sons, Robert Lenart, Sr. of West and Walter Lenart of Lorena; one daughter, Louise Bednar of Carrollton; one sister, Evelyn Sulak of Grandbury; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were Johnnie Lee Sulak, Edward Joe Lenart, David Laubert, Michael Polansky, Mark Uptmor and Leo Sulak, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were the members of West VFW Post 4819.
