Mrs. R. J. Kolar, 48, Buried Saturday Mrs. R. J. Kolar, 48, of Penelope and a native of West died last Thursday, February 24, in a Waco hospital following an illness of three months. Rev. B. Hruby conducted funeral services at Church of the Nativity in Penelope Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mrs. Kolar was born Elsie Sumbera, youngest child of Joe and Mary Sumbera, in 1907 on a farm near West. She lived in West and West Texas where her family later moved. For the past ten years, Penelope was the Kolar's family home. Mrs. Kolar became ill some three months ago and spent almost three weeks in a Hillsboro hospital. She was returned home for a week before being confined to the Waco hospital for a month prior to her death. Survivors are her mother, Mrs. Marie Sumbera of West; her husband, R. J. Kolar of Penelope; two sons, Pvt. Alfonse Kolar, US Army and Martin Dan Kolar of Penelope; three daughters, Irene Kolar and Helen Kolar of Dallas, and Evelyn Kolar of Penelope; three brothers, Jerry Sumbera of West, Richard Sumbera of Megargel, La., and Jerome Sumbera of Seymour, one sister, Mrs. John Pavelka of Robstown. Pallbearers wee nephews, Alphonse Marek, Wesley Kolar, Albin Marek, George Pavelka, Willie Pavelka, Jerome Pavelka, Bob Pavelka and Bennie Pavelka.
