Mrs. Albin (Ida) Karlik, age 77 of West, passed away Friday evening, January 23, 1998 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. January 25 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West by the Rev. Ed Karasek. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. January 26 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's cemetery near West. Mrs. Karlik was born July 21, 1920 in West, the daughter of Frank and Ida Matustik. She graduated from West High School as Salutatorian of her class in 1938. She married Albin Cyrill Karlik on April 23, 1945 in West. He preceded her in death on October 5, 1993. She was co-owner of Karlik Construction Co. and a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing quilting, gardening and cooking for her family. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America Society No. 829 and KJZT Society No. 31, both in West. She was also a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West where she was very active in the PTC Choir. She is survived by two sons, Carlton Karlik and his wife Mary of Plano and Gregory Karlik and his wife Mary of Granbury; two daughters, Jean Karlik of Forth Worth and Elizabeth Tubbs and her husband Tommy of Bluff Dale; three brothers, Ernest Matustik, Joe Matustik and Harry Matustik, all of Waco; one sister, Irene Kotrla of West; three grandchildren, Jeff Karlik of Plano and Katie and Amanda Karlik of Granbury; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jeff Katlik, David Matustik, Michael Matustik, Paul Kucera, Johnny Gerik and Billy Karlik. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
