William (Willie) Hutyra, age 77, of West, passed away Sunday morning in Waco. A rosary was recited at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites followed at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by VFW Post #4819 of West. The family received visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Hutyra was born September 2, 1925 in West, the son of Willie and Mary (Nors) Hutyra. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in Camp Beale, California where he received a Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and American Campaign Medal. Mr. Hutyra was discharged at the rank of Private First Class in December of 1945. He married Dorothy Janek on October 27, 1947 in Penelope. He worked for General Tire and Rubber Company for 35 years before retiring in 1987 and was a farmer. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He was a member of the American Legion #478, United Rubber Workers Union Local #312 and RVOS in Cottonwood. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hutyra of West; two sons, Dwane Hutyra of Louisiana and Michael Hutyra of West; a daughter-in-law, Susan Hutyra of Waco; two brothers, Freddie Hutyra and wife Josie and Johnnie Hutyra and wife Mary Ann, all of West; a granddaughter, Tina Brumm and husband David of New Castle, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Johnny Ray Hutyra, Ronnie Snapka, Stephen Novian, Terry Mechell, Jerry Girard and Erwin "Butch" Janek. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
