L.J. Girard, Sr. Of Waco, Dies; Rites Held Mon. Requiem high mass for Leo J. Girard, Sr. of 303 Turner St. Waco was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead. Rev. Ralph Brennan officiated and burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery at West. Rosary was recited Sunday in Wilkerson and Hatch Chapel, Waco. Mr. Girard died at 12:10 p.m. Saturday in a Waco hospital. He was 69. He was born in West and came to Waco 34 years ago. He worked with the State Highway Department. He retired in 1953 because of poor health. He became ill Wednesday. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the SPJST Lodge of West. Survivors include his wife, of Waco, one daughter, Mrs. Ed (Lillian) Fickel of Waco; one son, Leo Girard, Jr. of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Girard of West and Bill Girard of Waco.
