Henry L. (Buster) Gaiser, age 74, of West, died Saturday, November 3, 1991 near Mason, Texas. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday by Msgr. George Doskocil in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel, West. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Ed Karasek, as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mr. Gaiser was born January 17, 1917 in West. He lived in Pasadena from 1957 to 1983, when he moved back to West. From 1950 to 1953 he was a prisoner of war, first with the North Koreans and then with the Chinese. In October of 1953, during one of the last POW swaps of the Korean conflict, Mr. Gaiser was released from a Chinese prison camp. He received 14 medals ranging from two Silver Stars to the Korean Presidential Citation. Mr. Gaiser retired as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in 1972. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4819 of West. Survivors include a son, Mark Gaiser of Deer Park; two brothers, John R. Gaiser and Willie J. Gaiser, both of Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. O.R. (Eileen) Dennis of West and Mrs. Marvin (Joyce) Eddy of Mesquite; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jodie Vrana, Stanley Hoblinski, Bobby Wolf, James Miller, Raymond Martinez and George Fidler. Honorary Pallbearers were Members of V.F.W. Post #4819, Larry Gaiser, David Gaiser, Michael Gaiser, Ernest Zahirniak, Harold Alexander, Ben Cernosek, Ted Kaska, Jimmy Kolacek, Billy Wolf, Rudie Janek, Bill Gulihur, David Garey, Roy Dunaway, Cliff Allen, Jim Wright and Phillip Price.
