Marie Bartosh Eiland, age 90, of West, passed away Monday evening, September 2, 2002 at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, by Deacon Buddy Shieldes. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Eiland was born on June 6, 1912 in Ammannsville, the daughter of Vladimir and Mary (Mazoch) Bartosh. She attended schools in Needville. She married Doyce Earl Eiland on June 26, 1944 in Fort Worth. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1975. Marie worked as a homemaker and loved gardening, quilting, canning, reading and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 and a member of KJZT #11 in West for over seventy-four years. She was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West for fifty-two years. She is survived by two sons, John C. Eiland of Carrollton and Roy E. Eiland of McKinney; three daughters, Sylvia Lednicky and husband Bernard of Parker, Marie Eiland of Daly City, California, and Charlene Sulak and husband John of West; one step-son, Donald Eiland and wife Jeanne of Houston; five step-daughters, Wanda Cooke of Fort Worth, Dorothy Upton and husband Lloyd of Farmington, New Mexico, Betty Gray and husband Gary of Tucson, Arizona, Anne Lapacek of Richmond, California, and Norma Sue Floyd and husband Marion of Coalgate, Oklahoma; one brother, Eugene Bartosh of Rosharon; two sisters, Evelyn Rainosek of Fairchild and Dorothy Rainosek of Needville; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eighteen step-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Shawn Eiland, Kevin Eiland, Greg Lednicky, James Millington, Jimmy Eiland and Don Eiland. Aderhold Funeral Home in West is in charge of arrangements.
