TR Obit dated April 5, 1988 May ( Mrs Stephen ) Whitmore, 71, of 319 North 11th Ave., died Monday at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames. Services are set for Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Mast officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Born Oct 15, 1916, in Montour, She was the daughter of Frank and Edith (Merritt) Hayes. She was married to Stephen Whitmore on Oct.1, 1943 in Marshalltown and he survives. Also surviving are five children: Elaine Leuschen, Omaha Neb.; Marian Severe and Hilda "Eddie" Scovill, both of Marshalltown, Phyliss (Mrs Richard) Morrison, LeGrand; and Cathy (Mrs. Ray) Peace of Amarillo Texas. There are 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. A brother Veron Hayes of Phoenix Ariz., also survives. Preceding her in death were five brothers, two sister, and a great-grandson. Mrs Whitmore was reared and educated in Marshalltown, living here most of her life. She had been employed by Smitty's Marshall Creamery and Farmer's Produce. May was also married 1st to Norman Petrie July 2, 1955 in Marshalltown Iowa Children Marian , Phyliss & Cathy
