Bio

Josie, as she was known, was the 2nd wife of Joseph Lee Veal. Josie's parents, LD Abernathy and Ella D Jackson, were both from Tennessee. The reason for moving to Texas is not fully known, but as a State, Texas was relatively young, having been brought into the Union in 1845. So, by the time that Josie was born in Ellis county, the State of Texas was only 45 years old. Likely, land and opportunities abounded.
