I requested this memorial site from Wise County because I wanted to add some info that I have about her. However, I'm only related to her by marriage through her daughter's (Josie) marriage to my great Uncle Joseph Lee Veal (#135489081). Ella was my uncle's mother-in-law. If there's a family member out there who has a closer or any blood relation with Ella, I'd be glad to transfer maintenance to said requester. She's bound to have been someone's aunt or grandmother or great grandmother. Someone who knows more about her and can populate her bio with something more informative that what I'm writing. In the 'I don't know either' category, why does her and LD's headstone spell their surname as 'Abernathey'? Was it a 'chisel-o-graphical' instead of a simple typographical one? (The latter kind of error being much easier to fix.) Or was their surname actually spelled with an '-ey' instead of just a '-y'? Everything that I've seen about this family's surname, the latter spelling (-y) is correct. That doesn't mean that it IS correct, only that the preponderance of evidence points to the latter spelling. Chances are someone spelled it with an '-ey' on a death certificate, and that's often the funeral people's and stone engravers' go-to document. That happened to my ggm's given names, which made searching for her records a bit problematic. Lee Veal
