Bio

C.M. "Moran" Burke - Mar 7, 1919 - Dec 4, 1999 Service for C.M. "Moran" Burke, 80, was Monday, Dec. 6 at the First Baptist Church in Brownwood. Dr. Ron Cook and Dr. L.L. Morris officiated. Burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur. Burke died Dec. 4, 1999, at his home in Brownwood. Born March 7, 1919 in Denton, Burke was enrolled at North Texas State University when he was called to military service in 1941. He married Mildred Slater and spent the next 35 years in the banking profession. He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Midland, Corpus Christi, and Brownwood. He retired and moved to Brownwood with his wife where they built and. managed several rental properties. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Burke of Early; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and David Carpenter of Waco; three grandchildren, J.T., Mary Margaret and Anne Carpenter, all of Waco; two brothers, H.F. Burke of Denton and Chalmers Burke of Tyler; four sisters, Gertrude Dorsey of Grand Prairie, Muriel Waldrop of,Arlington, Barbara Orr of Denton and Ruth Patterson of Abilene; and a brother-in-law and sister-in- law; Wayne and Evalyn Matthews of Uvalde.
