The Fairfield Auxiliary (Fairfield, NE), Thursday, August 11, 1949; pg. 1 RICHARD VALERIAN VAP Richard Valerian Vap, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Vap, was born January 28, 1923, west of Deweese, Clay County, Nebr., and passed away at his home July 25, 1949, at the age of 26 years, 5 months and 25 days. He leaves to mourn his departure his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Vap, and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Hajny of Edgar, Nebr., and a host of relatives and friends. One brother and one sister preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 28, at St. Martin's Church at Louchky (sic), Nebr., with Rt. Rev. Msgr. H.S. Haukap of Lawrence, Nebr., officiating. The burial was at the church cemetery. The McLaughlin Funeral Home of Fairfield was in charge. The pallbearers were David Vap, Otto Vap, Melvin Vap, Norbert Nejezchleb, James Nejezchleb and George Jedounek. The flower girls were Janet Hajny, LaVeta Vap, Evelyn Skalka and Angeline Svoboda. We cannot say, and we will not say That he is dead; he is just away With a cheery smile, and wave of the hand, He has wandered into an unknown land And left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be, Since he lingers there. The out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were Mrs. Ed Andelt, sr., Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Andelt, Mrs. Ervin Lesec, all of Crete; Emil Psikal, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Psikal, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Psikal, all of Dorchester; Mr. and Mrs. George Vap of Juniata; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Vap of Bladen; Mrs. Christina Alwyn of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ziatkovsky of Overton; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Bednar of Sumner; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Melichar, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vap and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Brandt of Hastings.
