The Blue Hill Leader (Blue Hill, NE), Friday, May 16, 1941; pg. 1 HESMAN - SYNEK PAULINE — On Monday morning at nine o'clock, Miss Clara Francis (sic) Hesman, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hesman, became the bride of Joseph J. Synek of Spring Ranch. The marriage was solemnized at the Catholic church in Hastings with Rev. Grogan officiating. The bride's attendant was her sister, Miss Wilma Hesman. Groomsman was Frank Cecava of Deweese. Both the bride and bridesmaid were dressed in blue with accessories of white. The bride has been employed in Hastings the past few years. The groom has been operating a farm near Spring Ranch where they will make their future home. A reception was held following the ceremony at the home of the bride's parents with about forty-five guests present. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hamersky and family, Leo Cecava, Olga and Martha Cecava and Frank Bushovsky, all of Deweese; Rudolph Haba and Ernest Pavelka of Lawrence; Mr. and Mrs. Thurber of Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hesman of Blue Hill, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hesman, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hesman and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Hesman and daughter, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hesman and son. ======================== Deweese resident Clara Frances (Hesman) Synek, 88, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 1995, at Community Care of Blue Hill. Rosary is at 1:15 p.m. and services at 2 p.m., both Saturday at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese with the Rev. Dennis Hunt officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin's Cemetery near Deweese. McLaughlin Funeral Home of Clay Center is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Synek was born Oct. 26, 1906, to John and Pauline (Stichka) Hesman in rural Deweese. She attended school in Pauline. On May 12, 1941, she married Joseph James Synek at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings. They farmed in the Deweese and Lawrence areas. She was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Joyce Lang of Hastings; two sons, Richard of Edgar and John of Deweese; two sisters, Wilma Pavelka of Hastings and Mildred Haba of Glenvil; two brothers, Elmer Hesman of Hastings and Delmer Hesman of Pauline; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, three brothers and a grandchild. Memorials may be given to the family.
