Ely, Nevada Eugene J. Orrock 69, prominent resident of Ely and former White Pine County Sheriff died of a heart ailment Saturday at 9:00am while inspecting one of his apartments. Mr. Orrock served as sheriff from 1932 to 1950, was also deputy sheriff and a member of the Nevada State Highway Patrol prior to holding the office of sheriff. Born Nov. 26, 1889 in Richfield, Utah, son of W.C.B.and Martha M. Orrock, he married LeVerda Nelson July 7, 1914. She died July 22, 1924. (Actual Dates were: Marriage 9/25/13 and Laverda's Death Date: 7/22/1921) In 1925 Mr. Orrock moved to Ely and on November 24, 1930 he married Mary Rodger in Ely. Since his retirement in 1950 Mr. Orrock had been an apartment house owner and operator. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday in Ely, from Wilson Bates Chapel and graveside services were Wednesday at 11:00am in the Sunset Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake City, Utah. Survivors include his widow; a son, Ted, Riverside, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Peterson, Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Gail Hansen, Rock Springs, Wyoming; two stepchildren, Mrs. Mary Lou Hayes, Little Valley, Utah and Melvin Rodger, Reno, Nevada and 14 grandchildren.
