Minnie, eldest child of Charles and Hannah Kiehl, was born near Chicago, Ill., on Dec 30, 1874. She passed away on April 17, 1964, at the St Joseph's Hospital in Concordia, Kans., at the age of 89 years,3 months and 17 days. While she was a small child her parents moved to Jewell County, Kansas and settled north of Burr Oak. Here she grew up, sharing the toil and hardships of pioneer life. On February 22, 1899, she was united in marriage to John W Roberson and they began farming north of Burr Oak. Three children Freeda, Loren and Ruth came to bless their home. John, her husband, died August 30, 1922. She continued to maintain her home on the farm north of Burr Oak for more than 25 years. She felt a strong responsibility for her family which was her first concern. In 1929 she moved to Burr Oak, her home at the time of her death. She had lived a long and useful life and had many friends. She accepted Christ as her savior and was faithful in church attendance as long as her health permitted. In later years she enjoyed watching and listening to gospel programs. "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies....Her children arise up and call her blessed." Proverbs 31:10 and 38. Left to mourn her passing are her three children, Freeda Allington and husband Guy of Superior, Neb., Loren and wife Mae of Burr Oak and Ruth Davis and husband Denzil of Greenleaf, Idaho; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; two brothers, Louis Kiehl of Guide Rock, NE and Arthur Kiehl of Mankato, Kans., one sister Mrs Lula Caldwell of Wichita, Kansas. Two brothers, William and Ernest, preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on April 20, 1964 at the Methodist Church in Burr Oak under the direction of the Kramer Funeral Home. Rev Howard Sanders was in charge, assisted by Rev Geo Beals. Music was furnished by Mr and Mrs Everett Jeffery and Mr and Mrs Walter Dillion assisted by Mrs Chas. Durham. Pall bearers were Dallas Caldwell, Daryl Allington, Earl Buckley and Beryl, Arlen and Delmar Roberson. Interment was in the Burr Oak cemetery.
