Daughter of Pinkney Lafayette Groome and Cora Murphy Broadfield She died from taking the wrong medication or the wrong dose of a medication per Joseph Groome Love, the son of her sister, Jane Ruth Groome Love. The Tuesday, April 6, 1897 edition of The Landmark [Statesville NC] included: A 9-year-old daughter of Rev. Dr. P. L. Groome of Greensboro, died Saturday morning after a brief illness. The April 7, 1897 edition of The Greensboro [NC] Patriot included: Dr. and Mrs. P. L. Groome have our sympathy in their bereavement over the death of a nine-year-old daughter last week. She was an unusually bright loveable child and was sick only a few hours preceding her death.
