Bio

Alice Marie Grummert, departed this life and entered the eternal home, on October 19, 2009 at in Hastings, Nebraska. Alice was born August 2, 1940 in Callaway, Nebraska the daughter of Roy Edward Sr. and Martha Marie (Barta) Dewey. Alice grew up in Callaway, Nebraska and graduated from Harvard, Nebraska High School class of 1957. Alice married William Secrest, they later separated. Alice married William Secrest and Delmar Bissell both the marriages ended in separation. Alice married Larry Grummert on December 21, 1998 in Hastings. Alice spent most of her life raising her family and became a nurse's aid later in life working in various nursing homes in the area. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Alice enjoyed crocheting and was a great seamstress and an avid cook. She loved the elderly, children and all animals. She enjoyed caring for several foster children over the years. Survivors are husband Larry Grummert of Hastings, Nebraska; her children, Larry Secrest of Arizona; Lesia Calvin and husband Jim of Gurley, Nebraska; Pamela Graves of Greensboro, North Carolina; Kenneth Bissell of Gothenburg, Nebraska; Step children Carolyn Buss and husband Steve of Cozad, Nebraska; Lois Underwood and husband Rod of Lexington, Nebraska; Ronald Bissell and wife Sheila of Omaha, Nebraska; Roger Grummert of Celina, Ohio; and Sharon Struss and husband James Sr. of Hastings, Nebraska; sister, Rose Hardee of Hastings, Nebraska; brothers, Roy Edward Dewey Jr. and wife Darla of Darr, Nebraska; Ronald Root and wife Ruann of Juniata, Nebraska; and George Root of Texas; and a host of relatives and friends. Alice was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by parents, Roy and Martha Dewey; children, Catherine Bissell, Step children Letha Buss, and Linda Meyer.
