Charles Preston Chandler, devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2008 in Red Oak, Texas at the age of 79. He was born July 30, 1928 in McKinney, Texas to Albert P. and Vivian (Harrison) Chandler. On February 9, 1946 he married Birdie Jo Cunningham Chandler in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Chandler is a retired carpenter and of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Birdie Jo Chandler of Red Oak, Texas; sons, Ronald Chandler of Dallas, Texas and Michael Chandler and wife, Kathy of Red Oak, Texas; daughters, Sue Athas and husband, Nick of Red Oak, Texas and Sandy Ledbetter and husband, Mark of Dallas, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and sister, Cathy Junell of Cleveland, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, March 1, 2008, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Brother Ed Cole officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
