Bio
Degner, Bertha - Died, at 3:15 a.m. yesterday, at the residence, R. R. No. 8 of complications, at the age of 56 years, 9 months and 3 days. Surviving are the husband, Fred Degner, three sons, Arthur, Albert and Otto Vanselow; three daughters, Mrs. C. H. Hellmer of Junction City, Kan., Mrs. Henry Luker of Hooks, Kan., Mrs. George Kunz of Springfield, and three stepchildren, Mrs. Emma McGinnis, Chicago; Paul Degner, in France, and Henry Degner of Evansville. Funeral services will be held at the residence Friday and at Trinity Lutheran church. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery. IL State Register, Springfield, IL 12-5-1918 Note: buried in the Degner/Vanselow plot. Bertha's first husband was William Vanselow. Her name is inscribed on the Vanselow stone with first husband William and their son Paul.
