Shirley A Jussila, 75, Superior, died Thursday, March 26, 2009 in St Luke's Hospital, Duluth. She was born to Kenneth and Anna Brill in Trenary, Mich on October 16, 1933. She graduated from Trenary High School and went on to receive her certification as a cosmetology instructor at the Arrowhead Beauty College where she went to instruct cosmetology for many years before her retirement. Shirley married Engve "Swede" Jussila on September 26, 1953 and celebrated fifty-five years of marriage before he recently passed away on March 11, 2009. She was a longtime active member of Zion Lutheran Church, she was also a longtime active member and enjoyed leadership roles in her membership with the Ladies of the Superior Moose Lodge #606. Shirley was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed her membership at the YMCA where she enjoyed swimming. She was also a member of TOPS. Shirley's witty and well thought out advice will affectionately be missed by those who knew her. She is survived by two sons, Toivo (Dawn) Jussila, Iron River, Charles (Bonnie) Jussila, Iron River; one daughter, Lisa (Allen Avery) Jussila, Superior; four grandchildren, Shawn (Judy Neylon), Miranda, Brooke and Riley; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Sydni; four sisters, Betty, Kate, Harriet and Vangie. In addition to her husband Engve, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and a great-granddaughter, Sierha. Intermment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior with her husband Swede.
