Bio

Agnes "Ella" German, 87, of the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester, died Saturday, July 10, 1993 at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Manchester, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 14, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manchester, by Rev. Ambrose German, OFM. Burial will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery, Manchester. Friends may visit today (Tuesday)after 2 p.m. A Study Club Rosary will be at 4:30 p.m., followed by a CDA Rosary at 7 p.m., and a Scripture Wake Service at 8 p.m.. on Tuesday. She was born Dec. 17, 1905 in Lindsay, Neb. to William and Mary (Happ) Herchenbach. She attended St. Bernard Parish School in Nebraska, until the 8th grade. She married Albert Joseph German on May 19, 1925 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Humphrey, Neb. They farmed, retiring in 1968. Her husband died on Oct. 24, 1986, and she moved to the Good Neighbor Home in 1987. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manchester; Catholic Daughter's of America's, Court Mary of the Assumption #1946, and St. Mary's Study Club. Survivors include one son, Rev. Ambrose German OFM of Hermann, Mo.; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Shirley) Monaghan, Manchester; one sister, Eva Hemmer of Genoa, Neb.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Flora Mae Frick on July 23, 1986; and four grandchildren. The Bohnenkamp-Theulen Funeral Home, Manchester, is in charge of the arrangements. (In 1944, they moved to Iowa where they raised three children.)
