Edward Neff Bagley: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Salt Lake Tribune, The (UT) - December 11, 1999 Deceased Name: Edward Neff Bagley Ted Edward (Ted) Neff Bagley, age 87, died December 1, 1999 in Los Angeles, California where he and his wife Helen have resided for 35 years. At the time of his death he was Sr. Vice President of Salomon, Smith Barney Inc. Ted was a devoted and loving husband,father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He lived life to the fullest and his generosity, respect and kindness was shared equally with all. Ted was born January 13, 1912 in Cottonwood, Utah, the youngest of 10 children of Edward Cyrenus Bagley and Amanda Barr Neff. His childhood was spent in East Mill Creek, Big Cottonwood Canyon and Callao where his family engaged in sheep and cattle ranching. Upon graduation from Granite High School he attended Utah State University where he was the business manager of the Buzzer yearbook, affiliated with Phi Kappa Iota and graduated with honors in 1933. Returning to Salt Lake he began his 66-year career in the brokerage business associating with J.A. Hogle and Company where he was Manager of the Salt Lake office later becoming General Partner. After the merger of Goodbody and J.A. Hogle he moved to Los Angeles and then to New York City where he served as Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Goodbody and Company. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a Commander in the 440th Artillery Battalion. He participated in the Normandy invasion and all five of the Northern European Campaigns during which time he was awarded the Bronze Star. He retired from the Army reserves as a Colonel. Ted and Helen Young were married in the Salt Lake Temple on January 24, 1936. They are the parents of two children: Edward Dallin (Carolyn) Bagley and Bonnie (Ned) Shepherd of Salt Lake City; five grandchildren: Edward Bryan (Tina) Bagley of Salt Lake city, Lisa (Brandon) Higley of Denver, Colorado, Amanda Bagley of Salt Lake City, Michael (Josephine) Hudson Stowell of Cambridge, England and Jonathan (Winona) Bagley Stowell of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Maxine Bagley Lind, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ted was active in civic, church, political and non-profit activities and at the time of his death he was Sr. Vice President of Investments for Saloman, Smith Barney Inc. He was on the Board of Directors of Mining Services Inc. (MSI) and Gentner Communications Corp. His wisdom, guidance, love, eternal optimism, and positive influence will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, Decemember 11 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 so. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services.
