Church Leader Dies at 77 Amanda Neff Bagley, 77, Cottonwood L D S church and community leader, died Friday evening at the family residence, 5601 Highland drive, following a brief illness. She was born in East Mill Creek Oct. 16, 1867, a daughter of Amos H. and Catherine Thomas Neff, and was married to Edward C. Bagley in Logan LDS temple, Dec. 18, 1889. Mr. Bagley died in 1943. Mrs. Bagley was president of Holladay ward Y W M I A, a n d held the same office in the now Brinton (now Cottonwood) ward when Holladay ward was divided. Later she was president of Brinton ward Relief society. While serving in that capacity, Mrs. Bagley was a leader in founding Cottonwood stake maternity hospital in 1924, where more than 8000 babies have been born. She also was active in Cottonwood civic affairs and organized cooperative action between parents and teachers before the present Parent-Teacher assn. was inaugurated. Survivors include eight sons and daughters: Cyrene N. Bagley, Callao, Juab county; Mrs. Katheen B. Nelson, Mrs. Maxine B Lind and Isabel Bagley, Cottonwood; Mrs. Hattie B. Maughan, Logan; C. Stuart Bagley, Las Vegas, Nev.; Ames K. Bagley Salt Lake City, and Maj. Edward N. Bagley, serving with the U. S First army in Europe; a foster daughter, Mrs. Lena Roth McNarney, Sandy. Also surviving are six brother and three sisters: David Neff, Marysvale, Cal.; Samuel Neff, now in L D S church service in California; Mrs. Alice Neff Taylor and Eugene and Julian Neff, all of East Mill Creek; Cyrus Neff, Salt Lake City; Frank Neff, Lyman, Wayne county; Mrs. Loretta Nef Brown and Mrs. Katie Neff Mumford, Sandy, and 28 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p. m, at Cottonwood LDS ward chapel, 5911 Highland drive. Friends may call at the family home Sunday evening and Monday until time for services. Speakers will be Albert Quist and T. C. Stayner, former Cottonwood LDS ward bishops, and James L. Gwilliam and Dr. Adam S. Bennion. Friends may call at the family residence prior to services. Burial will be in Elysian Burial Gardens. The grave will be dedicated by Eugene Neff. Salt Lake Tribune January 29, 1945
