Twin to Sam Alton Weaver Services for Sam "Lightning" Weaver, 95, of Eunice were at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Keeney Dickenson officiating and the Rev. Alan Speed, of Calvary Baptist Church in Jal, N.M., assisting. Burial was in Brunson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home. He died Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at Hobbs Health Care Center. He was born Sept. 4, 1903, in Tennessee Colony. He married Ollie Johnson of June 14, 1923, in Wortham. She preceded him in death. He attended school at Fairfield. He began work as a cobbler in Levelland. He moved to Monument in 1935 to work for Me-Tex Water and Gas. He was a lease contractor and tool dresser for Wilson Oil Co. He retired in 1978. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Douglas Wayne Weaver of Waco and Billy Weaver of Eunice; a daughter, Patsy Essman of Jal; a sister, Lovie Miles of Mabank; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
