Bio

Services for the Rev. Allan C. Forbis, 83, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Nunn officiating. Entombment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. He died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001. He was born June 14, 1918, in Grayson County and married Ethelyn Marr on June 14, 1939, in Lamesa. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1934 and received his bachelor's degree in theology from Texas Tech. He attended McMurry University and then Southern Methodist University, where he received his doctorate degree. He ministered in Methodist churches in Texline, Morris, Dumas, Hart and Artesia, N.M., until retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Lubbock Masonic Lodge and Oakwood United Methodist Church. A daughter preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife; a son, Curtis of Haltom City; a daughter, Elizabeth Dell of Florida; two sisters, Nana Burch and Mary Holton, both of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
