Cornelius A. Norman married Louisa M. Powell on 14 December 1865 at Henderson County, Kentucky. She preceded him in death. Mary Elizabeth Evans married C.A. Norman on 12 July 1891 at Bryson, Texas. Cornelius Asbury Norman filed for his Confederate Pension in Jack County, Texas at the age of 75. He moved to Texas in 1876 and then to Bryson in 1900. He was a farmer. In 1917, he had $900 in assets. The records show Cornelius Asbury Norman was a private with Company C, 2nd Alabama Infantry, Confederate States Army, enlisted 18 July 1861 at Fort Morgan, Alabama, and on the muster roll. He was enlisted on 17 March 1862 at Fort Pillow, as a Private, Company A, 42nd Alabama Infantry, Confederate States Army. In October 1862, he is reported as absent, wounded and on 3 October 1862, at Corinth, he is on furlough. The Union Prisoner of War records shows Cornelius Asbury Norman was captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi on 4 July 1863 and was paroled at that place on 10 July 1863. Company A, 42nd Alabama Infantry was composed principally of re-enlisted men from the 2nd Alabama Infantry. Mr. Norman surrendered/was discharged on 9 May 1865 at Montgomery, Alabama.
