***************************** Published Sept. 28, 2009 - Chanute, KS Ella Freida Head, 82, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute, Kansas. Ella was born in Platte Center, Nebraska on November 23, 1926, the daughter of Frank and Lydia (Janssen) Berg. She graduated from High School in Flippen, Arkansas. She was united in marriage to Lowell Orland Head on August 17, 1948 in Cotter, Arkansas. He survives. Ella was a homemaker. Along with her husband, Lowell, she is survived by three sons, Orland Head of Chanute, KS, Paul Head and Alvina Stevens of Erie, KS, and Mike Head and wife Lisa of Chanute, KS; two daughters, LeElla Mussulman and husband Clay, of Chanute, KS, and Dollie Shelton of Chanute, KS; step-daughter, Sheila Ramey and husband Robert, of Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Debbie Head of Kansas City, KS; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Arnold Berg; and a sister, Dorothy Wickersham. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Lowell Ervin Head and Raymond Gale Head; grandson, Tyler Wayne Stich; and brothers, Ralph Berg, Carl Berg, and Ivan Berg. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Chanute, KS. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, KS. Memorials in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left with the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements. **************************
