Married: 11 NOV 1918 Phillip Metzler: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Fort Worth Star-Telegram (TX) - Thursday, September 24, 1992 Deceased Name: Phillip Metzler GAINESVILLE - Phillip D. Metzler of Gainesville, a retired farmer, died Monday at a Gainesvillenursing home. He was 98. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lindsay, where he was a member. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Lindsay. Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Metzler was born in Lindsay, where he lived all his life. He was an Army veteran of World War I, serving in Germany and France. He was a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hughes-Tune Post No. 1922. Survivors: Six sons, Clarence "Dutch" Metzler of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Gerald Metzler, Leroy Metzler, Raymond Metzler, Bill Metzler and Julius Metzler, all of Lindsay; two daughters, Anna Belle Dieter and Virginia Noggler, both of Lindsay; 37 grandchildren; and 50 great-grandchildren.
