MOBERLY MONITOR-INDEX & EVENING DEMOCRAT, Moberly, Missouri, Thursday, May 2, 2002 CELESTIA B. WALTERS Celestia B. "Lessie" Walters, 81 of Moberly, died Wednesday at Moberly Nursing & Rehab. She had been in failing health. Mrs. Walters was born May 7, 1920 in Keytesville, a daughter of the late Oscar and Bertha (Craigg) Swearngin. She was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle in Moberly. According to her family she enjoyed writing poetry and crocheting. Mrs. Walters returned to Moberly in 1987 from the Kansas City area after retiring. She married Delbert D. Walters on Mar. 2, 1946. He survives of the home in Moberly. Also surviving are her children: Kent and Nancy Walters of Middleberg, Florida, Francie McCormick of Salina, Oklahoma, and Shelly Archer of Moberly; one step-son, David and his wife, Diane Walters of Belton, Missouri; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Crose of Moberly, and Nora Vance of Grandview; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Dooley, Mae Forth and Katherine Johnson; and one brother, Henry Swearngin. Memorial services will be held Saturday at the Gospel Tabernacle on Highway 24 East. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Cater Funeral Home.
